Offering easy access off the M23 from Junction 11, Pease Pottage is just a 15-minute drive from Horsham and a 20-minute drive from Haywards Heath.
Pease Pottage has an interesting history, lying on an ancient pre-Roman trackway that ran along the forest ridge from Ashdown Forest through to Horsham. This pre-dated the roads built by the Romans to link the south coast of England to London and the route can be found on ordinance survey maps as well as seen in various places, for example, as an old sunken railway running through Worth Forest east of Pease Pottage.
A brand-new housing development – Woodgate – offers 3- and 4-bedroom new homes in a traditional Sussex style. To meet the demand of the new homes, a new school – Woodgate primary School – will be opening in September 2021.
The village has a popular independent florist next to their pub, The Black Swan.
The Black Swan serves real pub food and cask ales from its family friendly interior featuring large, roaring fireplaces. During the warmer months there’s a large outside garden where you can enjoy nibbles with a gin and tonic or meet friends for a main meal.
