A little over 3.5 miles north-west of Haywards Heath on the B2114, Staplefield is a pretty village with a village green and cricket pitch that host events and cricket matches throughout the warmer months and on evenings and weekends.
There are two popular pubs in the village, both adjacent to the village green and cricket pitch – The Jolly Tanners and The Victory Inn. The first represents the village’s history as a key local tanning industry and the latter was named after the legal victory in gaining permission to be a pub.
St Mark’s Church was built in 1847 and there is also a Village Hall and primary school.
The small but friendly community come together throughout the year at events including an Annual Vintage Car Show and the yearly fete, or ‘Staplefield Fun Day,’ which takes place on the second May Bank Holiday Monday and features maypole dancing, a dog show, stalls, funfair rides and a hog roast.
